Use this app as a preventative measure for lifting accidents when involved in a hoist operation that involves a coffing hoist or other chain hoist by checking manufacturer specifications and by ensuring overload protection through assessing load capacity.

Hand operated hoists have many applications in rigging work. Typical applications include hoisting pipe or plate into position for welding or bolting, moving machinery, fence stretching and lifting engines or equipment during repairs. These devices are simple to operate but misuse can result in sudden failure, property damage, and serious injury. Some things to keep in mind are provided in the Come‐Along, ""Coffin"" Hoist and Chain Hoist Safety mobile app. Inspect the hoist to be sure it is in good condition. Do not use any hoist that appears to have been overloaded. Some things to look for include a bent handle, stretched chain links, broken ratchet teeth, stiff operation or bent hooks. Anything that is cracked, bent, distorted, deformed or broken probably indicates overloading. Don't use it. This app allows you to record safety recommendations, job specific topics, review M.S.D.S. and list safety meeting attendees.

Don't take our word for it...

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
