Essentially, this is where the respirator seals with a worker's face - it states that nothing must come between the respirator and the skin, ie eyeglass frames, head coverings, beards, sideburns, and stubble must not interfere with the seal. All of these items cause the respirator to make a poor seal with the face. It states that not following these guidelines will lead to the likes of dust, mist, fibres, fume particles, and gas and vapour molecules making their way through the seal, potentially causing serious health problems.
