DOJ Crime Scene Investigation (CSI): Establish Crime Scene Debriefing Team

The crime scene debriefing enables law enforcement personnel, crime scen investigators and other responders to share information regarding particular scene findings prior to releasing the scene. It provides an opportunity for input regarding followup investigation, special requests for assistance, and the establishment of post-scene responsibilities. Sometimes evidence may not be readily noticed except by those who first respond to a scene - odors may dissipate, weather may disturb a scene, or other changes to physical evidence may occur. Additionally, while a scene is processed, evidence may be disturbed or changed in a way that having it discussed during debrief can help to ensure the evidence is properly noted and collected prior to a scene being released. This app can help provide guidance in this process.

The DOJ Crime Scene Investigation series of app is intended for use by law enforcement and other responders who have responsibility for protecting crime scenes, preserving physical evidence, and collecting and submitting the evidence for scientific examination. Physical evidence has the potential to play a critical role in the overall investigation and resolution of a suspected criminal act. Realization of this potential depends on actions taken early in the criminal investigation at the crime scene.
