Ohio Wetland Mitigation and Monitoring Plan Checklist

The discharge of dredge or fill material into waters in Ohio is subject to the Clean Water Act and Ohio’s Isolated Wetland laws which follow Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for wetland and stream mitigation. Having proper wetland mitigation and monitoring plans in place and ensuring annual monitoring reports are properly prepared in accordance with the “Integrated Wetland Assessment Program" is critical for compliance with federal and Ohio law. This app is useful in the development and implementation of mitigation and monitoring plans for the protection or restoration of an Ohio wetland. Mitigation projects for wetland restoration are important to ensure water quality, protection of wetlands such as forested wetland, natural wetlands, and other aquatic resources in wetland areas. This checklist ensures that mitigation restoration projects have a proper mitigation plan which includes in the submission maps such as a road map, a USGS map, a NWI map, a NRCS county soil map, an aerial photography, a map of the mitigation site and the impact site, a map of the proposed mitigation area showing the location of existing aquatic resources, vegetation communities, boundary of preservation property, and areas presently dominated by invasive species, and other maps/plans.
