Inexperience or carelessness are the major causes of nearly half of all accidents. The law PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) stipulates that employers provide adequate training of employees and that abrasive wheels are only operated by employees who have received appropriate training. PUWER also requires that all machinery be suitable for its intended use, properly maintained, and supervisory personnel are fully informed and trained for health and safety purposes.
