Texas Municipal Solid Waste Medical Waste Mobile Treatment Checklist

Mobile waste disposal units must be regularly monitored and checked to ensure that infectious waste and other biohazardous materials are not handled in an unsafe manner which can endanger workers and the general public. Through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Texas Municipal Solid Waste Medical Waste Mobile Treatment Checklist app offers safety requirements and regulations for medical waste mobile units that process infectious waste at various health care clinics and centers. Within the app, regulatory requirements are divided into the following sections: Registration, Record Keeping, Vehicle Requirements, and Packaging and Transport. The checklist offers guidance for solid waste management facilities that operate mobile processing for infectious agents and infectious medical waste. These include questions such as: Did the providers of on-site treatment of MW on mobile treatment units furnish the generator the documentation required in 330.1219(a)(3)(A) - (D) and a statement that the medical waste was treated in accordance with 25 TAC 1.136 for the generator's records? Did the vehicles used in the treatment of MW carry spill cleanup equipment which included disinfectant, absorbent, gloves, coveralls, eye protection, and proper containers? Was untreated medical waste segregated from hazardous waste, asbestos, and radioactive waste regulated under 25 TAC Chapter 289 both before and after treatment? This app helps operators to ensure that biomedical waste such as containers with bloodborne pathogens, pharmaceutical waste, and other waste generated in the healthcare field is properly handled and treated onsite.
