Caterpillar created the Generator Preventative Maintenance Checklist(6Y) app to provide safety and procedural guidelines for a six-year maintenance program for emergency generators. The app lists necessary tools, safety equipment, and materials such as an oil filter, collection container for used oil, a battery tester, and distilled water, and an infrared measurement meter. Safety precautions should be taken by a technician. The app recommends such precautions as use safety type fuel cans only, allow no open flames in an area, and schedule equipment downtime. Using the app, a service technician can walk through maintenance procedures for inspecting and cleaning generators, can check electrical connections to check coolant level, and if necessary change cooling system coolant. This app is a useful tool for a technician to access a step-by-step plan for servicing the equipment of an emergency generator in a six-year period.

Don't take our word for it...
“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
