The instrument can be used to measure the depth of holes, slots, recesses, or the distance from a surface to a recessed part. A depth micrometer should be calibrated at regular intervals to obtain accurate data. The Depth Micrometer Calibration Procedure app will guide an engineer through the entire process of calibrating the instrument. In five steps, the app user will check each test characteristic including the anvils and thimble, ratchet, measuring scale, and rod inserts. A test method and acceptable limit accompany each test characteristic. For example, for the ratchet, the technician should turn the ratchet with the instrument locked to ensure it is functional. It is acceptable if the feature is in good working order. After the device is calibrated, an engineer can feel confident in the recorded measurement.

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
