The crops must be harvested in the manner in which they are not exposed to contaminants like bacteria, pests, insects, or pathogens, and ensure that cleaning and sanitizing are done according to a farm's safety plan or pursuant to regulations. Farmers should become familiar with best agricultural practices around health and hygiene as well as local requirements for producing food.
