An sUAS is defined as a system consisting of an unmanned aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) weighing less than 55 pounds. This app consists of three primary components - a planning checklist, a pre-flight checklist, and an emergency management checklist. The checklist checks items that ensure sUAS operations comply with drone regulations established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The app prompts the user to ensure that the drone is registered with the FAA, that the aircraft bears the FAA registration number, the weather reports are obtained prior to flight (including wind speed, wind direction, etc.), that flight restrictions are checked prior to flight and more. The app includes emergency management procedures such as reporting crashes and contacting the appropriate authorities in the event of an accident or injury. Drone flight can be fun and it can be a valuable tool for many businesses, but when one goes to fly a drone, it must be done safely and in accordance with drone regulations.

“I’m not a tech guy and I was able to pick this thing up in probably an hour, and actually start to build apps. I’ve done them over lunch when I’ve gotten frustrated with a process that didn’t exist in our company. So for non tech people who’ve got a problem, the support here is awesome and I’d recommend it to anybody, not just in our industry.”
