This protocol identifies components of, and requirements for, the completion of a detailed ecological risk assessment (DERA) as described under the Contaminated Sites Regulation (the Regulation). A completed DERA Checklist must be provided with any DERA report submitted in support of a recommendation to issue a contaminated sites legal instrument based on compliance with the risk-based standards of the Regulation. For sites with operable pathways, the detailed ecological risk assessment report must be structured as a formal framework of related objectives, assessment endpoints, and measurement endpoints. The report must summarize the pertinent information from site investigation and ecological risk assessment performed for the site.
